Monday was incredibly busy for a holiday. Christopher’s is catering Fish Lake Friday, so Rob & I went over to pick up their menu. I know the chicken parm is a definite b/c that’s Rob’s favorite. He used to get it all the time back in high school during lunch out. Despite the name, “fish” will probably not make an appearance on the menu. We also selected some options for our upcoming tasting with the caterer. It’s next Wednesday and we had to let them know what we were planning on tasting. Everything sounds so good.

Possible groomsmen ties have been ordered and should be here by the end of the week. Hopefully they’ll look as good in person with the tuxes as I think they will. If not, guess what all the men in my life are getting for Christmas?? We also placed an order with Nashville wraps for all the needed packaging. Who new we’d need so many boxes and bags?? The order was large enough to qualify for free shipping. YAY! Even though it was just ordered Monday, According to FedEx’s tracking #’s, it should be here tomorrow. Pretty good for free ground shipping! I’m still waiting for my paper order but hopefully that’ll be here soon as well.

The 6 days since the last post seem to have flown by in what felt like 48 hours. Thursday and Friday were Instant Decision Days here at Rutgers-Newark. Luckily, I didn’t have anyone cry. Saturday was my Scarlet Day here at work, so I was on campus for that. A family came at the very end, not realizing it started at 9:30am, so I walked them around campus for a little while after. I think they were appreciative. Afterwards, we headed down to SJ for another wedding filled weekend.

Sunday was monopolized by 12 giant red triangles. It sounded simple. 4 – 8′ equilateral triangles & 8 – 4′ equilateral triangles for the roof of the King & I set that Dad is working on. I haven’t done math like that in quite a while. Luckily the Pythagorean Theorem came to the rescue. Mom & I also went shoe shopping. I found wedding shoe pairs 3 & 4 but after getting them home, I think I’ll stick to pairs 1 & 2. Luckily, everything is returnable. Pair 1 is more wintery and looks best with my dress. I plan on wearing them for the ceremony and pictures. Pair 2 is more comfortable than pair 1 but strappy and much more summery. I’ll wear these for the reception (until I can’t stand heels any longer and succumb to the waiting pair of flip-flops).

Yesterday, a surprise bridal shower was thrown in my honor! How exciting is that?!?!? It was so much fun and I can’t wait to see the pictures. My bow hat alone will be hysterical (thanks Melis!). A HUGE “Thank You” to ALL the aunts, bridesmaids and everyone else who helped make this wonderful afternoon happen. Your time, love, and effort is worth more than I can ever say. Thank you!

Thank you to both sets of parents! You guys are the best and we love you so much!

Thank you to everyone who came!! Walking in to a room full of our friends and family was a little overwhelming but awesome at the same time. It was wonderful seeing you! Everyone’s generosity blew both of us away.

I would love to see pictures! If you have any pictures, please take a moment and upload them to our photo sharing website OR just email them to us at robandcarrie@gmail.com. Starting today, we are officially getting married NEXT month! AHhh!

It’s official! Dad took the invitations to the post office this morning and (hopefully) they’re all mailed. YAY!

I say hopefully because apparently there was some discussion about whether or not they have enough postage. Dad took a couple samples to the post office and was told they weighed in at $0.75/ea. The federal employee, however, failed to mention that there is also a thickness limit. Today, a different employee noted the thickness issue. They got our invites through their $0.75 template but it was a tight fit. Hopefully you will get them! (And we won’t get them back.)

It’s feeling so real. I hope everyone likes them!!

October 29th = 2 months = 8.5 weeks = 61 days ’til we’re married! But who’s counting?

YAY!!!

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect card box. Originally, I was going to make our card box by decoupaging pictures of us throughout the years on it. But that would have involved a lot of work for a box that we’d never use again. I’d rather have those pictures in an album or at least decoupaged on something useful. What would I do with a box with a slit in the top after the wedding?!

Friday, I popped by Pier 1 because rumor had it they sold a wire basket that looked like a present.  Sure enough, they had it! It’s not a solid metal box. It’s cube shaped and the wire kind of squiggles all around, so it’s open (kind of like a birdcage, but more free form). It’s a pretty awful gold color but I plan on spray painting it copper to match everything else we’re doing.

I like that it’s shaped like a present and metal wire. The copper wire is a pretty predominant theme throughout this whole event but we’re also sneaking in little holiday references too. Our centerpieces will have cognac and champagne colored Christmas ball ornaments hanging from the canopy. We were originally going to give out ornaments as favors to but have since changed our minds. (You’re now getting chocolate. YUM!)

Anyway… while I was in Pier 1, I found the PERFECT table number holders! Perfect, I tell you. I’ve been looking for something to hold our table numbers for months but just haven’t found anything. Picture frames are pretty typical but I couldn’t find anything I loved. Plus, well… ‘typical’ is so boring and expected. I wished we could find something more unique but hadn’t come up with anything yet. “Besides, it’s just table numbers,” I rationalized, “who actually looks at them?”

But there, on an end cap at Pier 1 were copper and cognac colored, ball-ornament shaped place card holders! The copper holders have ribbons of cognac glitter twisting around the middle. The cognac holders have strands of copper glitter. They match our colors! They match our ornaments! They’re perfect and I love them.

The families got together this morning to velcro, stamp and stuff our invitations into envelopes today. Mom & Dad had said earlier that they picked up stamps for our outer envelopes and today we saw what they were. Dad surprised us with custom stamps! Aren’t they great?! It’s the first picture of Rob and I – taken 2 days before we officially started dating. (Thanks Erin, for snapping that shot 8.5 years ago! We’ve sure gotten a lot of use out of it.) Dad also put our wedding date and a copper border around the pic on them. LOVE THEM!

Our zazzle stamps!

Be sure ogle over the envelope, not just the invite when it arrives! Keep an eye on those mailboxes, ladies and gentlemen. :D

Regina got some video of me flying! Check out my birdie catch:

About the less than graceful dismount… Randy (the catcher) threw me back to catch the return bar but there was no bar and I wasn’t expecting it. The centrifugal force kept my feet going up. Oops! It was fun though!!

In preparation for the wedding, we’ve created a Shutterfly Collection to get everyone’s digital pictures in one place. If you take any pictures at the wedding or pre-wedding parties, upload them here to share with us! For more info, please check out the new page -
