With 1 month and 2 days until the big day, crunch time is upon us. With all the lists and ToDo’s, appointments and projects, it’s easy to let taking care of oneself fall to the wayside. The fall has seemed to fly by and I haven’t seen the inside of the gym in months.

Yesterday we came home to a new Club Eleven80 fitness class schedule and the timing couldn’t be more perfect. Classes have been switched around and now 4 of 6 classes fit into my schedule!

Tuesday: 6:30pm – Pilates; 7:30pm – Yoga
Wednesday: 7am – Abs Attack
Fridays: 7am – Resistance Training

Getting up for the morning classes will be hard but I plan on going to all 4. If I can keep this up for the next 4 weeks, I will be a happy camper. Send all those good gym vibes my way.  Who wants to be my workout buddy??

Tomorrow is also the due date for our RSVP’s. If you still haven’t dropped that little card in the mail, please do so as soon as you can. Or, feel free to call or email us with your RSVP (robandcarrie@gmail.com).

Don’t forget – the response cards are double-sided. Fish Lake Friday response is on one side, Ceremony & Celebration (the wedding) is on the other. For an explanation about Fish Lake Friday, please click here.

Hope to see you soon!!!

Just a reminder, tomorrow is the very last day to make a room reservation at the Wyndham Hotel under our group rate. Please visit the “Hotel” page for more information.

Starting on Nov. 29th, rooms will be available at the normal going rate.

We didn’t get to centerpieces this weekend. There was just to much other stuff to do. Maybe next weekend?? We’ll keep you posted.

Wednesday was a big wedding TO DO day. we did a walk through of space with Barb (Collingswood coordinator) & Darah (photog). I think we’ve nailed down a time line and where all the pictures will be taken. After that, we headed down to Berlin and met with Dan & Barry (Barry’s Catering). We selected & finalized the menu. It is going to be SO good; but that’s whole separate blog. Then we headed over to the airport to pick up Diggie. Mom & Dad flew him home for the holidays. It was so good to see him!! We even saved him some of the leftovers from the tasting. Wednesday night we met with Ken (videographer) and discussed day-of coordination.

Thursday was Thanksgiving!!!! So much food! YUM! Stuffing, mashed potatoes and cranberries are my favorite ever. Holidays are always 2 meal occasions; noon at my family’s and 4pm at Rob’s. After dinner at Rob’s Jaimie, Kristie & Jess told me about my bachelorette party plans. We’re going to have SO much fun!!

Friday, Mom & I got up at 3:15/30am and went to Kohls & Target. So many good deals!! Got some presents for the upcoming gifting occasions. We also swung by JoAnns and got lining fabric for Rob’s vest, then dropped it off at Jan’s. A long nap was in order for the afternoon because that night was Rob’s SURPRISE SHOWER!!!

It was over at his parent’s place and how we were getting him there changed about 3 times. Phil called him and asked for a ride down so we could hang out. He brought Phil directly to his parent’s house. The look of shock on Rob’s face when he walked in was priceless. It was poker/card themed to wish us “lots of luck” in our future. Loved it! The spread was delish and Rob got lots of cool goodies!

Phil & Skip slept over at my house Friday night, so we got bagels and played guitar hero a little Saturday. I got to sewing and ran some errands.

Sunday was church, brunch at the dinner with both sets of rents and more sewing. Mom got Diggie’s vest done (well, at least mostly done). I finished my secret sewing project (LOVE the way it came out). I also set up my wrapping station and organized it. Erin, Skip & Karen also came over to hang out a little. Erin & Skip really worked for their dinner and helped us bang out our favor tags. We’ve got them all matted, now I just have to put the ribbons on.

All in all, it was a very productive weekend. Lots done and I got to hang out with friends and family – esp my bro. More details to come.

Turkey Day has come and gone (well will be gone in about 7 min). It was a day full of deliciousness and family! Diggie is home from Alaska (came home Wednesday!); which is awesome. Rob and I had not 1, but 2, Thanksgiving dinners – 12:30pm at my parents’; 4:00pm at his. What’s not to like about a day full of stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cranberries?!?! Best holiday ever. After Christmas. But you get presents on Christmas, so that almost doesn’t count. Holiday’s with presents will almost always win over non-gifting ones. But I digress. Today was a very good day! We <3 our families.

The past few days have been jam-packed with wedding preparations. Updates are overdue but it is currently 11:59pm. Mom & I are getting up at 3:15am to go shopping (Black Friday sales!! woot!) so I need to go to bed. Updates and more fun blog entries will have to come tomorrow or later this weekend. Maybe I’ll even post date them so it was like I wrote it Wednesday night (even though I haven’t written anything yet).

Stay tuned. g’nite!

Don’t forget! Saturday & Sunday we’ll be making centerpieces at Chez L… starting at 10am (probably both days). Email us if you can come!!

Yesterday was pot-luck Thanksgiving at Lyndsay & Mike’s. It was SO much fun! We brought enough sweet potatoes to feed an army. We also brought our now infamous “mummy dogs” that we served at our Halloween shindig. Well, I didn’t wrap them like I did for Halloween but they were still pretty yummy (if I do say so myself). Lyndsay and Mike provided the turkey, stuffing, biscuits, & mashed potatoes. It was all delicious!! Everyone else brought other sides and desserts. It was an evening full of good people and guitar hero. Lynds & Mike – Thank you for having us!! It was a wonderful evening!

Today was a wonderful lazy Sunday. It was awesome and I’m not sure we’ll get another weekend like this before the wedding. We slept in and lounged about a little. Then we heard shouting outside. Don’t you know, there was a film crew shooting out on Commerce Blvd. We walked downstairs to investigate and, rumor has it, they were filming some 9-11 thing. There was a FDNY fire trucks, a FDNY ambulance, and a couple NYC taxi’s. No more details as to what exactly it was but we’ll keep our eyes open. Maybe our building will be famous!

Since we were out, we walked over to Scully’s (a new Irish pub in the next block over) for lunch. A little laundry and a nap in the afternoon. Rob woke me up for dinner. He made orzo & spinach soup. It was awesome. Now we’re (well, really just Rob) screening a Jerry Springer pay-per-view and Blind Date’s.

Can’t wait for this weekend! Centerpieces!!!

There seems to be a little confusion about “Fish Lake Friday”, so let me explain.

Fish Lake Friday isn’t a fish fry. In fact, there probably won’t be any fish served at all. Fish Lake is a place.

The day before their wedding, my Aunt Ann & Uncle Bobby had a casual get together at Aunt Ann’s family home on ‘Fish Lake’. It is one of my favorite wedding memories. Everyone who was invited to their wedding was invited to Fish Lake to get to know one another. The next day, at the wedding, most of the guests had already met and knew each other. All the awkward getting-to-know-you pleasantries had already been taken care of. The day of the wedding was so much fun!!

Fish Lake Friday is a casual gathering in the same spirit. We hope you’ll make a weekend out of it and join us. Come celebrate and get to know everyone!

Below is the description found in our invitations:

Fish Lake Friday has its roots in one of Carrie’s favorite wedding memories. Her Uncle Bobby and Aunt Ann had a party preceding their wedding at Ann’s family home at ‘Fish Lake’. The fun and fellowship at ‘Fish Lake’ made their wedding a wonderful time. Remembering a summertime lake at a fellowship hall in winter, we hope you will come make warm memories on the eve of Carrie and Rob’s wedding.”

Yesterday was also our final meeting with our photographer. We went over the “Must Take” picture list – which is basically just a list of group shots we want. Family – just a warning – you will be needed for group shots during the cocktail hour. A separate post about this will follow. Sarah, our day-of photographer, seems really cool. Hopefully she’ll get all the detail shots b/c I didn’t specify anything in particular. I’m sure she’ll be great!

After the final meeting in Philly, we blasted back across the river and into Jersey. A quick dinner and off we went again. Mom & I had our first fitting’s with Jan of Ed’s Tailor Shop (the local shop downtown). We went to her house which was incredibly convenient b/c it was on the way to Exit 7 of the Turnpike. My dress ONLY needs a bustle! I wasn’t sure how it was going to work b/c the back of my dress is asymmetrical. She just picked the train up and tucked it under, kind of off to one side. It looks perfect! I was envisioning a bustle right in the middle of the back of my dress. But with the asymmetrical swoop, it just looked weird. Having the bustle off to the side looks awesome. My mom’s dress just needs to be taken in a little but also no hem required.

Since our dresses don’t need much, Jan agreed to make Rob’s vest. YAY! I took the fabric to the custom suit guy here in Newark and they said no. They, apparently, don’t like working with outside fabric, in case they make a mistake. Also they were going to charge $175 for the vest. That would have been fine, if they’d done it. I don’t know what Jan is charging us but I don’t really care. I don’t have to make it! The taffeta that my dress is made out of is going to be a giant PITA to work with and I want Rob to have something that looks really nice. I’m SO glad she is doing it. Luckily, Rob was waiting out in the car, so he just popped in and got measured. Super!
