life in general

I’m not decorating for the holidays and I blame grad school.  School has sapped all the festive Christmas spirit out of me.

Last night sitting on the couch Rob was on the phone with Phil talking about the rapidly approaching holidays. Phil asked if we had our holiday decorations up, at which point Rob turned to me and asked when we were putting the tree up. “We aren’t,” was my response. “Scrooge,” he replied.

I just don’t see the point. I have finals through the 15th. We don’t have clean underwear, much less a wreath. All of our holiday decorations are in boxes up in my parents attic, so the earliest we could dig them out would be the 20th but we’re not back home until the night of the 21st. We could decorate on the 22nd. Of course we head back south on the 23rd and will most likely not come home again until 2009. So no, I don’t see the point in decorating.

I wanted to get Christmas cards out too but that is looking less and less likely. So to anyone who would have gotten a card – MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! That’s as good as it gets.

I really like this picture of us entering our reception (nearly a year ago! WHAT?!) but that giant light is SUCH a distraction.

Enter Rob, deftly armed with new Photoshop skills and – POOF! – here’s what you get:

TA-DA!!!

To all our service men & women, past & present – Thank you for everything you do for our country! Your courage is inspiring and your service is humbling.

To all the families of veterans – Thank you for supporting our service men & women. Being the ones left at home isn’t always easy but, for those in the armed services, it’s wonderful to have someone to come home to.

And to my favorite veteran – Thank you! I admire your courage, dedication, and love of country. You’ve taught me to be a better person and citizen. I love you, Dad!

Ok. That’s probably a gross over estimation. But today our save the dates were featured on the Brooklyn Bride blog (try saying that 3 times fast). Check out my post on Floating Apples!!

Or should I say, “Picture the Edited”?

I think this is way better than the sleepy eyed one.

Don’t forget to get out and vote!! We did. Rob got us up at o-dark-thirty (or 5:30am, for those of you who like real numbers). Well, he got up at 5:30, I couldn’t roll my butt out until a little before 6.

We wore our t-shirts & buttons. Yes, we know it’s “electioneering;” we buttoned up before going inside.

We voted over on Clinton St. and there was a small line. They only had one booth but it was exciting to see that many people out in downtown Newark so early in the morning. It took us a little over an hour, round-trip. Steve Diner, the Chancellor of Rutgers-Newark, was there voting but I doubt he recognized me.

Tonight Bobby & I are meeting Rob at 30 Rock. We’re gonna watch the votes roll in at Democracy Plaza.

So no matter who you’re backing, don’t forget to get out there and VOTE!!!!

I finally got the pictures up from the event Erin, Lyndsay & I went to over on my Floating Apples blog.

Check it out here. Thanks for coming with me, guys!!

Halloween is my favorite holiday of all time. But by now my love for dress up shouldn’t surprise you. Our last year living in 22, we had the BEST halloween party! Since we don’t have pictures from this years Halloween, indulge me in a little trip down memory lane.

That witches brew was mighty tasty, if I do say so myself.

 Miss you (former) roomies!!

Happy Halloween!!

While I’m not an avid baseball fan, the Phillies are are my hometown team. I have many fond memories watching Mike Schmidt in Aunt Carole & Uncle Rudy’s living room, hanging out with Bre and eating pepperoni sandwiches off a Batman plate. This championship has been a long time coming.

And THE BEST mascot of all time -

October is a busy month for our family. Mom & Dad celebrate their birthdays a mere 19 days apart. Dad’s unfortunately fell on a Tuesday this year, so we couldn’t come down. Mom’s was this past Sunday (after Erin & Skip‘s wedding). Mom, Dad, Diggie, Rob and I celebrated with cake for breakfast before we had to take Digs to the airport. Wish I had some pictures but Rob did catch “Happy Birthday” with the Flip -

Happy Birthday, Mom & Dad!!!! We love you!
