Faves

Warning – this post is kind of a downer

Yesterday in my ritualistic morning website/message board/blog checkings, I came across a post about Matt Logelin’s blog - “matt, liz, and madeline, life & death. all in a 27-hour period.”

I started off by reading the Minneapolis-St. Paul newspaper article on startribune.com. It gives some back-story before jumping right into his blog posts. You can read it here. Then I popped over to his blog.

What I found there was the most heart-wrenching story I’ve read in a long time. Be prepared to cry. I probably sounded like a goon, sitting at my desk blowing my nose 8-bajillion times. It made me really think about & appreciate all my loved ones, and say a little prayer that I never have to feel the same pain he is going through. My heart goes out to him and his family.

I was surfing around Etsy the other day and came across these super fabulous bags by seller DavidShockDesigns. You know my penchant for all things industrial and quirky, so it isn’t any wonder I dig them.

They’re made out of discarded orange fencing (like they put up to catch leaves and trash). Making trash useful and fashionable; how green is that?!

I love that it’s using unique and different materials. Like how I wallpapered our “dining room” with giant acrylic gas station numbers. Not their original purpose but look super cool!

You can check out his Etsy Shop here.

I LOVE this site! Throwing parties and having people over is something we really enjoy. The Hostess Blog has so many great ideas. They also do a great job of keeping things realistic. The ideas are budget friendly and within a normal persons reach. They also pull in cool things and ideas from other websites. Kind of like a news aggregate site – but way more my speed! haha

Hostess with the Mostess

Online places, that is.

Usually, I’m very productive at work. But sitting at a desk all day can (sometimes) cause me to get a little distracted. It’s always amazing where I end up in my daisy chain of clicking. There are now several places that I like to check out, so I think I’ll feature them here over the course of a few posts.

First up – Etsy

Etsy is king of like eBay but everything is handmade and you just buy it (no bidding). It’s massive. I could spend (literally) hours on this site! So many cool things!!

Most recently, I bought Rob this new wallet from seller jDUCT-

It’s 100% made out of duct tape! And it’s got a lucha libre mask on it.

Etsy makes me want to craft or start my own crafting business. I know, I know. Grad school first. Got it. Grad school THEN Etsy store.
