Warning – this post is kind of a downer

Yesterday in my ritualistic morning website/message board/blog checkings, I came across a post about Matt Logelin’s blog - “matt, liz, and madeline, life & death. all in a 27-hour period.”

I started off by reading the Minneapolis-St. Paul newspaper article on startribune.com. It gives some back-story before jumping right into his blog posts. You can read it here. Then I popped over to his blog.

What I found there was the most heart-wrenching story I’ve read in a long time. Be prepared to cry. I probably sounded like a goon, sitting at my desk blowing my nose 8-bajillion times. It made me really think about & appreciate all my loved ones, and say a little prayer that I never have to feel the same pain he is going through. My heart goes out to him and his family.

You can eat an ice cream sundae for dinner and no one can stop you.

Last night Phil & Caitie came up for dinner at Seabra Rodizio. Mmmmm….. so many meats on sticks. They just keep bringing you meat until you’re full. There are a ton of places like this in the Ironbound. We’d never been to Seabra before but it was really good! They had several types of beef, pork, chicken, etc.. but the alligator & buffalo were my fave. It was great seeing them!! Phil came up for Caitie’s senior recital, which is tomorrow. Break a leg Caitie!!!

Today, Rob got up and went to the gym. Then Rob, John & I went to the 1:45pm showing of Iron Man.
It was really good!! If you go see it, be sure to stay through the end of the credits. Not gonna give anything away. Just do it.

Afterward, Rob dropped me off at home and then headed up to a comic book shop. He is playing in a Magic The Gathering sealed deck tournament tonight. Registration was a 5pm but I think it officially starts at 6pm. Good luck baby!!!

Tonight, I am going to a girls only Derby/Wine Tasting party at Lyndsay’s in the ‘boken. It’s not until 8pm and with the 1:45 movie, we really didn’t have an official lunch and I’ll go to the party fed. So I decided to have a sundae for dinner. What?! It was fat free double-churn Bryers. That makes it 100% ok. :)

Today, I emailed out my final paper for my 3rd grad class. I was running late trying to finish it in time. (You know I always wait until the last minute. If it weren’t for the last minute, nothing would ever get done!) It took me 2 frickin’ hours just to compile my reference list (all 28 sources!). That was way longer than I budgeted by about an hour. I was just hitting save as the clock in the upper right hand corner of my screen clicked 5:00 PM.  It was due at five, so I quickly attached and sent it off.

I’d be a little more confident if I had time to do some (any) proofreading. Which I did not. I read as I went along but I wrote it in sections and fits and spurts. Ok.ok. Mostly just spurts. A singular spurt. But I never actually read the whole thing as one continuous paper. To be honest, I still haven’t. I figure, it’s already turned in; why agonize over it?? If I reread it now, I’m just going to want to make changes and switch around sentences; which I can’t because (as previously stated) it’s already turned in. But at least it’s done! I actually think it is an interesting paper. Of course, I did write it. But it is a legitimately interesting topic, well, as interesting as political economy can be.

Now, just keep your fingers crossed that it doesn’t totally suck. Would it be totally unrealistic to expect an A?? (Cause I really want the A) But no matter the grade, the class is officially over. One more checked off the list. WHEEE!!!
