I DID IT I DID IT I DID IT I DID IT I DID IT I DID IT I DID IT I DID IT !!!!!

“What did I do?” you may be asking yourself. Let me start at the beginning.

Back when we first got engaged, we had the idea to start a wedding website. My initial vision was somewhat basic. I wanted a place where everyone could get basic information about the wedding. You know, where, when, how to get there, etc… Rob suggested we should have a place where people could submit song requests to be added to a running reception playlist. Being completely illiterate as to how a website is made, I didn’t even know where to begin.

Enter John. (Rob’s buddy from the NBC page program.) He has made a few websites and offered to help us out. One fateful Sunday afternoon, he ventured into Newark and showed us the wonderful things you can do with the internet. He posted the 3rd draft of our save the date cards on robandcarrie.net and showed us a fabulous website called wordpress. It was also his brilliant idea to have a wedding blog. I’m going to steal that idea and tell everyone it was mine.

In the subsequent evenings, I started a blog on wordpress and messed around with the idea of “remapping the domain”. Our blog is hosted by a website named WordPress. In fact, our blog web address (or URL) was 2kidsfromjersey.wordpress.com. But we also owned the URL, robandcarrie.net. I wanted a way for our blog & website to become one. Now for “domain mapping”.

Domain mapping is where our blog is still hosted by wordpress.com, but it looks like it’s somewhere else – on another site (like robandcarrie.net). Basically, our blog has become our website. You can get to this site by either entering robandcarrie.net OR 2kidsfromjersey.wordpress.com.

It took me 2 nights to figure it out, but I did it! All by myself!! Ta-DA!!! (:::smiles proudly:::)
